Preparation for the "Inburgeringsexamen"

Since April 1 1997, everybody from outside the European Union is obliged to pass a so-called "Inburgeringsexamen". This "Inburgeringsexamen" consists of two parts: the Central Exam and the Practical Exam.

In the Central exam ("Centraal examen") you will have to:

  • answer several questions about the history of the Netherlands, its laws, customs and habits
  • mention some contradictions
  • repeat some spoken sentences
  • summarize a short story in a few sentences

In the Practical exam ("Praktijkexamen") you will have to:

  • collect a certain amount of proof of writing or speaking for your Portfolio
  • (optionally) participate in assessments
  • do a writing assignment

If you only know a little Dutch, this exam certainly will not be easy. However, we are able to help you with the preparation for this exam. You will get a basic course in Dutch.

Much attention in this course is devoted to:

  • speaking
  • listening
